Happy New Year! Can you believe it’s already 2019? It seems like time is passing more quickly every year. I’ve been spending the past week reflecting on 2018 and creating detailed goals for 2019. Although 2018 taught me a lot, I want to share 3 things I’m doing to “boss up” (raise my standards + be a better me):
- Live my truth. 2018 taught me to be transparent about how I feel, likes/dislikes and what I want. I’m no longer sugar coating words or doing things to appease others.
- Create boundaries. One of the first things I did to prepare for 2019 was change my phone number. This was actually difficult because I had the same number for about 7 years. I had to grieve relationships that would ultimately end because of the change. Sometimes you have to limit access to yourself for your own sanity!
- Have a consistent self care routine. 2018 also taught me the importance of self care and how necessary it is for mental health maintenance. For me, the majority of my self care consists of weekly therapy sessions and journaling. I’ve found that processing through my emotions regularly is essential to having a positive outlook on life. I would say 25% of my routine consists of bubble baths, reading, traveling and Netflix binging…because balance.
